To become a company secretary, students are offered a professional course by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). Students can enroll in this course after passing the 12th standard. First, they must take the CSEET (CS Executive Entrance Test), an entry-level exam. After passing this, students are admitted to the CS Executive program, which teaches subjects related to company law, tax law, and corporate management. After completing the Executive program, students must complete a 21-month articleship or training, which provides practical experience. This is followed by passing the CS Professional program exam, which then completes the training. This can take at least 3 to 4 years. Regarding salary, a CS starting salary can range from ₹5–8 lakh per annum.
