New Rule: PNG Users Cannot Keep LPG Cylinder at Home
Government Issues New Order on LPG and PNG Connections: Amid concerns over global oil supply due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Government of India has announced a new rule related to cooking gas connections. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that households with a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection will no longer be allowed to keep or refill LPG cylinders.
According to the revised order issued on Saturday, government oil companies and their distributors have been instructed not to provide LPG connections or refills to consumers who already have a PNG gas connection at home. The government said this step aims to manage gas supply efficiently during the current situation.
Officials have urged citizens not to panic, stating that the country has enough reserves of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas. People living in areas where PNG is available have been advised to apply for PNG connections through the official government website.
At the same time, authorities have warned against black marketing and hoarding of LPG cylinders. State governments have been directed to closely monitor the distribution and supply of cooking gas.
The situation comes as tensions continue in the Middle East, where a war involving Israel, the United States, and Iran has been ongoing for about two weeks. Iran has reportedly blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments, affecting energy supplies worldwide. However, two LPG tankers carrying supplies for India were recently allowed to enter the country.
