3rd case of HMPV was reported in Gujarat, an 8-year-old child was confirmed infected
3rd case of HMPV was reported in Gujarat: Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), which is originally from China, is spreading in India gradually. Till now 3 cases have been reported in Gujarat. On Friday, an 8-year-old child from Sabarkantha district of Gujarat tested positive for HMPV. An official said that the infant is currently on a ventilator.
The confirmation of this extra case raises the total tally of the HMPV cases in the state to three. The official said that the 8-year-old youngster belongs to a working family. The official said that the 8-year-old boy is from a laborer’s family. His test conducted by a private lab had tested him positive for the HMPV infection. His blood sample was later sent to a government lab for testing by the health authorities.
The child is admitted to a private hospital in Bimtanagar city, according to officials. The case was earlier reported as a suspected HMPV case. Meanwhile, the blood sample sent to the government lab has confirmed that he is infected with HMPV. Sabarkantha District Magistrate Ratan Kanwar said that the government lab on Friday confirmed that the child is infected with HMPV.
