Why Married Women Celebrate Savitri Brata in Odisha: In Odisha, married Hindu women observe Savitri Brata with devotion and traditional rituals for the long life and well-being of their husbands. The festival is inspired by the legend of Savitri and Satyavan, symbolising faith, love and marital commitment.

Women observe a day-long fast, wear traditional attire and perform special pujas. One of the main rituals includes worshipping the sacred banyan tree by tying threads around it and offering fruits, flowers and prayers. Priests also narrate the story of Savitri and Satyavan during the rituals.
