Share market crash: Sensex drops 800 points, Nifty slips 1%

The BSE Sensex fell by more than one percent on Monday, the first trading day of the week. At 9:16 am, the Sensex was seen trading at 73,462 with a decline of around 1.05% or 781 points. At the same time, the Nifty 50 also fell by more than 1 percent. At 9:17 am. The NSE Nifty 50 was seen trading at 23,131 with a decline of around 234 points. Earlier, the Sensex had slipped more than 500 points or 0.6 percent in the pre-open, while the Nifty 50 was more or less the same.

On Monday, the Sensex opened over 800 points, or 1.11 percent, lower at 73,421.61, while the NSE Nifty 50 was trading at 23,080, down around 286 points, or 1.22 percent. All-round selling pressure was seen in the market. Realty, metals, auto, and information technology (IT) stocks were the biggest losers. Realty shares fell nearly 2 per cent, while metal, auto, and IT indices fell more than 1 per cent each.

Among Nifty companies, Wipro, TCS, Hindalco, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Bajaj Finance and Shriram Finance were major losers.
