Monsoon Session 2026: Government holds all-party meeting, 7 bills to be tabled: Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the central government has called an all-party meeting on Sunday. The meeting was held in the main committee room of Parliament House Annexe at 11 am. The government sought cooperation from all parties to ensure the smooth functioning of both houses.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament will commence on July 20 i.e. Monday, and will continue till August 13. In this session, the government is preparing to pass a total of 7 important bills, including 2 old and 5 new bills. The government is expected to outline its legislative agenda, while opposition parties are set to flag a range of political, economic and governance related issues. The agenda includes the NEET controversy, Sonam Wangchuk’s demands, the Ram Mandir Row and other pressing political matters.
The meeting was chaired by Defence minister Rajnath Singh. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, leader of the house in Rajya Sabha J.P Nadda, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal and Dr L Murugan and other leaders and designated personnel were present in the meeting.
The government first wants to dispose of the two old bills that have already been tabled in Parliament. The first bill is the ‘Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment i.e. FCRA Bill, 2026’, which was introduced earlier this year. The second is the ‘Viksit Bharat Siksha Adhishthan (VBSA) Bill, 2025’. The bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 15 December 2025 and was later referred to the Joint Committee.
Apart from the old bills, the government is also going to introduce 5 new laws in this session. These are the bills that are directly related to the common people and the system of the country:
- Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- The Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026
- Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- Prevention of Insults to National Honor (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Amendment Bill, 2026
