I will not contest any election in the future: Siddaramaiah: Big news has come out about the politics of Karnataka. Siddaramaiah, the former chief minister of the state and the leader of the Congress party, has announced that he will not contest the 2028 assembly elections.
Former Karnataka CM and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah announced that he will not contest the 2028 Assembly elections. This announcement has fueled political discussions in Karnataka.
Former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah wrote on ‘X’ post, ‘I will not contest the assembly elections of 2028. I am now 79 years old. The tenure of our government is still one and a half years left. By then I will be 81-82 years old. My health is not what it used to be. Now it is not possible to work with the same passion and enthusiasm as before.’
Siddaramaiah said,‘ the political atmosphere has become corrupted today. Therefore, I have decided not to contest the 2028 assembly elections. However, I will remain active in politics and raise the voice of the people.’ I started my political journey in 1978 as a Taluk Board member. I have seen both defeat and victory. But I am satisfied that I have never acted against the principles in which I believed, nor betrayed my conscience.’
He said, ‘Now the time has come that if we contest elections, we have to pay people. Today’s politics has become completely corrupt. There is no room left for honest politics. Considering this environment, I have decided not to contest future elections.
