Big blow for ‘X’ users, Musk shuts down its creator revenue program: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced the complete shutdown of the Creator Revenue Share program on the social media platform ‘X’. The last payment of earnings under this program will be on September 11. New sign-ups in this program have also been closed since August 7.
Through this revenue sharing program, users with premium accounts on ‘X’ used to earn money based on the engagement they get on their posts. The decision comes days after Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, stepped down from his post, although he remains an advisor to the company. However, the good news for creators is that Musk hasn’t completely closed the way to monetization, but has instead introduced a new original content rewards program, in which only selected and original contributors will get paid.
According to the company, existing Revenue Sharing participants will receive three final payouts, with two scheduled for August 14 and August 28, while the final payment for earnings accrued through September 7 is expected around September 11. ‘X’ said existing Revenue Sharing participants would begin getting access to apply for the new programme from September 8, subject to meeting its eligibility requirements.
