‘Vande Mataram’ Echoes at Red Fort as PM Modi Hoists Tricolour
Historic First at Red Fort: ‘Vande Mataram’ Rings Out as PM Modi Hoists Tricolour: ‘Vande Mataram’ was sung at the Red Fort for the first time on Independence Day, shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the Tricolour. Addressing the nation, PM Modi said the song now “echoes in the heartbeat of every citizen.”
PM Modi began his address by greeting the nation on the 80th Independence Day. He said, “Today, the Tricolour is in every home; today, the Tricolour is in every heart.”
The Prime Minister also expressed concern over recent floods in parts of the country and assured affected families that the entire nation stands with them.
He said India must now move forward with bigger goals and stronger resolutions. He praised the contribution of citizens from all sections of society who, over the past 12 years, have worked to take the country forward.
PM Modi said India has set a major goal of becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047, when the country completes 100 years of independence. He said this goal will be achieved through the hard work and determination of 1.4 billion Indians.
