7 Dead in Tarapith Hotel Fire, Several Injured: At least seven people died, and several others suffered serious burns after a fire broke out at a hotel in Tarapith, Birbhum, West Bengal, early Monday morning.

The fire reportedly started around 4–5 AM, possibly due to a short circuit in an air conditioner near the reception area. Most guests were asleep when the fire spread quickly through the hotel.

The building filled with thick smoke, causing some people to die from suffocation, while others suffered severe burns. Firefighters brought the blaze under control, and the injured were taken to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital.

Police said the victims included pilgrims who had come to Tarapith to visit the famous Kali temple. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated, and the death toll could rise.
