SIR draft voter list released in Delhi, over 47 lakh names dropped: Delhi’s draft electoral roll has been released under the process of SIR on Monday. The names of 47.7 lakh voters name have been dropped from the draft voter list. Individuals whose names has been removed can submit their claims and objections.
In an order issued by the office of the Chief Election Commission, the draft voter list has been issued in Delhi under the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Out of 1.45 crore voters of Delhi, the names of 47.7 lakh voters have been removed from the voter list. According to report, about 97.5 lakh voters are included in the draft voter list in Delhi. The Election Commission says that the purpose of SIR is not to leave out any eligible voter in the country and to remove any ineligible voter from the electoral roll.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi has said that those whose names have not appeared in the voter list can submit their claims through Form 6 and necessary documents till September 30. According to the updated schedule released by the Election Commission, the claims and objections submitted will be examined and the notice and settlement process will continue till October 29. It has been reported that the final voter list under SIR in Delhi will be released on November 4. Earlier, the Election Commission had released the draft voter list of SIR in Jharkhand in which the names of more than 43 lakh voters were deleted.
Due to door-to-door verification, non-submission of forms for digitization and other technical reasons, names of a large number of voters could not be included in this draft list. It also includes voters who are absent, have transferred, are deceased, are duplicates, are foreign nationals and fall under other categories of cases.
