Odisha extends ‘Bidesh Sikhyabruti’ application deadline: The Odisha Government’s Higher Education Department on Tuesday has extended the deadline for submission of online applications under the ‘Bidesh Sikhyabruti’ scholarship scheme. Now students can submit their applications untill September 18, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Higher Education Department, students interested in availing the scholarship for the academic years 2025-26 (December 2025/January 2026) and 2026-27 can now submit their applications online. Interested students can apply through the Odisha State Scholarship Portal (OSS) (https://scholarship.odisha.gov.in) until September 18. The earlier deadline was September 1, 2026.

The state government launched the Bidesh Sikhyabruti scheme to support Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students pursuing postgraduate and PhD courses at the top 200 QS-ranked foreign institutes and universities. The selections will be based on the latest available QS rankings at the time of submission of application.

The government had earlier invited applications for the two academic years from August 18 to August 31, 2026. With the extension, eligible students have additional time to complete the application process. Under the scheme, SC/ST students with an annual family income of up to Rs 12 lakh are eligible to apply. A total of 50 SC/ST students will be supported through the scholarship programme.

The initiative is aimed at improving access to quality international higher education for students from SC and ST communities. This will enable them to pursue advanced academic and research opportunities at reputed institutions abroad.

Eligible students have been advised to submit their applications within the revised deadline through the official scholarship portal. Detailed guidelines and other information regarding the Bidesh Sikhyabruti scheme are available on the Odisha Higher Education Department’s website.
