Odisha DGP Selection Case: SC deferred hearing to Sep 7: The Supreme Court on Wednesday has deferred the hearing on the Odisha Director General of Police(DGP) appointment case to September 7.

Odisha DGP Selection Case is being heard in the Supreme Court today over allegations of irregularities in the process of selecting Odisha’s permanent Director General of Police. A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant is scheduled to hear the PIL concerning the appointment process on September 7.

The petitioner has alleged that an attempt was made to include comparatively junior officers in the pool of eligible candidates for the DGP post, in violation of the principles laid down by the Supreme Court in the landmark Prakash Singh case of 2006.

The Public Litigation Interest(PIL) challenging the process for selection of the Odisha DGP is being heard by a Bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohan.
