Students will gain access to OUAT’s laboratories, agricultural farms, and food processing centers, as well as technical support from experts in fields such as agriculture, animal husbandry, and horticulture.
OSEPA-OUAT join hands to promote vocational training in schools: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) and the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT). This initiative was formally launched to provide practical and field-based vocational education in agriculture and allied sectors to school students.
Under this agreement, 26 government high schools have been formally linked with OUAT, Bhubaneswar, and specific Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) for the implementation of ‘Dual Mode Vocational Education’. Practical vocational training will be provided to students starting from the current academic year. Through this scheme, students will gain access to OUAT’s laboratories, agricultural farms, and food processing centers, as well as technical support from experts in fields such as agriculture, animal husbandry, and horticulture. This experience will help students understand real-world work environments and apply the skills learned in school to practical situations.
An inaugural event was held at the OUAT conference hall in Bhubaneswar to launch the ‘Dual Mode Vocational Education’ program across 26 PM SHRI government high schools in 20 districts of Odisha.
Sangeeta Behera, State Project Director of OSEPA, and Professor Sushant Kumar Swain, Dean of the Extension Education Department at OUAT, were present at the event. Addressing the gathering, the State Project Director of OSEPA highlighted the strengthening of vocational education in Odisha and emphasized the need to provide students with meaningful learning experiences beyond the confines of the traditional classroom. He stated that this partnership between OSEPA and OUAT would create new opportunities for practical learning, skill development, and career building in the agriculture and allied sectors.
