Dhanraj, Ram Gopal file nominations as Rajya Sabha candidates: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday has announced Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani and Ram Gopal Yadav as its official candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Sabha Election 2026. Both candidates filed their nomination papers at 11 am in the presence of SP chief. The decision has created a stir in UP politics.
Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani, son of Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani, is a senior Reliance group executive and sports administrator. He is said to be a close confidant of Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries. Akhilesh Yadav recently indicated that the party would field a ‘surprise ’candidate. Nathwani is the party’s second candidate for Rajya Sabha polls.

The Election Commission has scheduled polling for all 10 UP seats on October 16. Counting will also take place on the same day. The nomination process began on 29 September, with 6 October being the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny will be held on 7 October, while candidates can withdraw their nominations until 9 October.
