India beat Srilanka by 124 runs, face Pakistan in final: India advances to Asian Games Men’s cricket final. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, team India defeated Srilanka by 124 runs in the second semi-final of Asian Games on Thursday.  

Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first. India produced a dominant all-round performance to dismantle the Sri Lankan Batting line-up. India wrapped up the innings in just 9.5 overs, bowling Sri Lanka out for 45. Nuwanidu Fernando was the only Sri Lankan batter to reach double figures, scoring 15. Ishan Kishan smashed unbeaten 80 off 46 balls. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi returned to the line-up and opened the innings, scoring 38, while Abhishek Sharma and wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson were dismissed for seven runs each.

Captain Iyer managed to score 13 off 13 balls. Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel struck twice in the opening four overs to put India firmly in control before Abhishek Sharma finished the contest with two wickets in the 10th over.

The 124-run margin is also the highest ever in a semi-final or final of any Men’s T20I tournament featuring two full member sides. Earlier in the day, Pakistan qualified for the final of the men’s cricket competition after beating Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-curtailed match. The defending champions will now face Pakistan in the gold medal match on October 3.
