Mamata, Kejriwal detained amid CJP protest: Former West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee along with other opposition leaders were detained by the police on their way to CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. The Cockroach Janta Party staged a protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over irregularities in SIR process of the electoral rolls.

The Trinamool Congress chief was detained along with several of her party MPs including Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen from South Avenue in central Delhi.Where she sat with a band-aid on her mouth during the protest at a bus stand.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar were also detained as they tried to join the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in the Capital.

Banerjee and her party MPs were taken away in a police bus. ‘The government is misbehaving with us,’ Banerjee said in a video statement from inside the police bus. ‘We the INDIA alliance will continue to fight to strengthen people’s voice,’ she added.

Following detention, CPM leaders to social media to condemn the police action, while party leaders in Kerela denounced the move and called for protests. Vijayan, in a facebook post accused the NDA government of turning the national capital into an open prison and attempting to suppress protests through the deployment of armed police forces.
