Court orders release of Dipke, Ranka and Saurabh: Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke and leaders Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released by the Executive Magistrate’s Court on Sunday. The information was given by CJP’s legal affairs head Ratna Singh. Earlier all three of them were detained from inside the plane minutes after landing in Delhi on Saturday.
CJP in a X post said, ‘Finally Delhi Police is forced to release Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das.’ Advocate Soutik Banerjee also confirmed their release. He said the court granted them release on the condition that they ‘cannot breach peace’ for one year.
The CJP and opposition parties have been demanding the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision(SIR) of voter rolls. Several opposition leaders including former chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Pinarayi Vijayan, Manik Sarkar along with over 7000 protestors were detained at multiple locations. They were prevented from reaching Jantar Mantar, police sources said.
