Narendra Damodardas Modi was born on 17 September 1950 in the house of Damodardas Modi and Hiraben. Modi’s childhood was spent in a small house
Narendra Modi’s childhood was spent in a lot of poverty and hardship. It is said that the house where Modi lived in Vadnagar was very small. Narendra Modi lived with his parents and siblings in a one-and-a-half-room house in a thatched house.

When Narendra Modi was 6 years old, he was given the responsibility of earning money. At a young age, he used to sell tea with his father at the Vadnagar railway station. Narendra Modi’s father used to have a small shop at the station. That shop is still present at the Vadnagar station.

Narendra Modi was associated with the RSS from a very young age. When he joined RSS, he was only 8 years old. In 1958, RSS’s first provincial pracharak, Laxman Rao Inamdar, administered an oath to Narendra Bhai Modi as a Bal Swayamsevak. From that time onwards, he started going to RSS shakhas.

Narendra Modi completed his primary education in Vadnagar. While working as an RSS pracharak, he obtained an MA degree in political science from Gujarat University in 1980. Narendra Modi, the third son among his father’s six children, was an average student. According to his school teacher, Modi was not very good at studies, but he was very interested in debates and drama competitions. He was also very interested in politics. During his studies, Modi joined the student organization Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and also participated in the anti-corruption Nav Nirman movement.

Narendra Modi was engaged to Jashodaben Chamanlal at the age of 13, and when they got married, he was only 17 years old. According to Modi’s biographers, even though Modi married Jashodaben, they never lived together. Modi left home at the age of 17.

Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat for 14 years
Narendra Modi became the chief minister of Gujarat on 7 October 2001. Then He remained in the CM post for 14 consecutive years. During this time he included Gujarat among the top states of the country. Even today Modi’s Gujarat model is discussed. Modi remained the Chief Minister of Gujarat till 22 May 2014.
2001 was the turning point for Narendra Modi
After joining the BJP, Narendra Modi worked on many posts. In 1988-89, he was made the general secretary of the Gujarat unit of the BJP. When former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani did the Somnath-Ayodhya Rath Yatra, Narendra Modi played an important role at that time. From that time onwards, Modi started being recognized among the big leaders.
However, the year 2001 was a turning point for Modi. That year, a devastating earthquake struck Gujarat, in which more than 20 thousand people died. Due to political pressure, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Keshubhai Patel, had to resign, and in his place, Narendra Modi was made the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time. Modi was probably waiting for this; after that, he never looked back. By the year 2012, Narendra Modi’s stature grew so much that the party started seeing him as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country in 2014
Narendra Modi, who gained fame by making Gujarat one of the top states, was made the prime ministerial candidate by the BJP. Under his leadership, the BJP registered a landslide victory and formed a majority government at the centre. In 2014, Narendra Modi became the 14th Prime Minister of the country.
