Mahashivratri Story , mahashivratri is an auspicious festival . it is a very special festival for shiva devotees . Mahashivratri means ‘Night of Shiva’. Shiva is worshipped on this day. Actually, Shivaratri is celebrated every month. It is also called Masik Shivaratri. The night of Mahashivratri is the night of vigil, that is why it is also called Mahashivratri. It is believed that by staying awake on this day and chanting the name of Shiva, there is always happiness and peace in a person’s life. The blessings of Shiva-Parvati remain on them.
why is Mahashivratri celebrated ?
there are different beliefs and stories about it , according to Shiva Purana, Mahashivratri has special significance. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were married on this day. Which happens on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha of Falgun month. There is also a story that Lord Shiva appeared for the first time in Jyotirlinga on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha in Falgun month and then from then on it started being celebrated as Mahashivratri. Or in other words, the night of Shiva’s incarnation from formless to real form is called Mahashivratri.

Method of worship of Mahashivaratri
During this time you can also recite Shiv Puran and Rudrashtak.
To anoint the Shiv Linga, offer water, milk, curd, honey, ghee and Ganga water.
Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, sandalwood, whole rice, ash and white flowers. Also, light incense and perform the Aarti of Lord Shiva and sing bhajans.
On Mahashivratri, definitely recite Shiv Chalisa
How to get special results on Mahashivratri?
On Mahashivratri, a person gets desired results by anointing Shivling with milk, curd, ghee, honey and Ganga water. On this day, worship of four prahars has special importance.
First phrase – for gaining health and longevity.
Second phrase – for wealth and prosperity.
Third phrase – for fulfillment of desires and happiness of children.
Fourth phrase – To attain salvation and blessings of Shiva.
