Pune bus rape accused Dattatraya Gade arrested
Pune Police arrested Dattatreya Gade, the accused in the rape of a 26-year-old woman in a municipal bus parked at the Swarajate bus stand in Pune, Maharashtra, at around 1.30 am from his village Shirur’s Sugarcane field. According to Pune City DCP Crime Nikhil Pingle, the accused was hiding in his village for the last two days. The police have formed 13 teams to investigate the case. A reward of Rs 1 lakh has also been announced for finding the accused.
Dattatray Ramdas Gade, the accused in the Pune rape case, has been absconding since the incident on Tuesday. He was accused of raping a 26-year-old woman inside a State Road Transport Corporation bus parked at the Swargate bus stand at around 5.30 am.
The Pune Police have launched a search operation in the Sugarcane field to find the accused. The police suspected that he might be hiding in the sugarcane fields. On Thursday, more than 100 police personnel, including senior officers, reached Gunat and conducted the operation, in which drones were used to take aerial photographs of the fields.
Besides, the police increased security at the main entry and exit points of Pune, as well as important bus stands and railway stations. A reward of Rs 1 lakh was also announced for anyone providing information about the location of the rape accused. According to the police, the rape accused has several criminal cases against him, including theft and robbery.
