Over 57% Of Corporate Men In India Face Vitamin B12 Deficiency
In india over 57 % of male corporates face vitamin B12 deficiency . A recent study by MediBuddy, India’s largest digital healthcare platform, has revealed that over 57 per cent of corporate men in India suffer from Vitamin B12 deficiency, highlighting the need for proactive health measures. The study analysed data from 4,400 corporate professionals aged 40–50, including 3,338 men and 1,059 women, and found that men exhibited a significantly higher prevalence of B12 deficiency compared to women.
Vitamin B12 plays a crucial role in neurological function and energy metabolism, yet 57.16 per cent of men and 49.9 per cent of women in the study showed insufficient levels. The findings challenge the assumption that urban professionals maintain adequate nutrition and point to underlying causes such as poor gut absorption, dietary habits, and metabolic stress.
Why is vitamin B12 deficiency so common among corporate professionals?
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that for most of us, our work has gained prevalence over everything else. With demanding schedules, erratic eating habits, and high stress levels, corporate professionals often overlook essential nutrition – until the symptoms start. Inadequate dietary intake is one of the main causes behind the rise in vitamin B12 deficiency among men and women.
Besides, dietitian Vidhi Chawla, founder of Fisico Diet and Aesthetic Clinic, points out that vitamin B12 is primarily found in animal products, making vegetarians particularly vulnerable.
Additionally, Dr Archana Batra, a dietitian and certified diabetes educator, highlights that lifestyle changes, including frequent consumption of over-processed foods, alcohol, and excess caffeine, significantly reduce B12 absorption. Furthermore, heightened stress levels among corporate employees lead to increased cortisol production, which depletes B12 reserves in the body.
