The name of this police officer is Karthik Madhira. He has played cricket from under-13 to under-15, under-17 and under-19 level, but later cracked UPSC and became an IPS.

Born and brought up in Hyderabad, Karthik has played cricket at Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 levels, but later he started preparing for UPSC and cracked the exam and became an IPS. According to media reports, Karthik quit cricket due to personal reasons and injury and gave a different direction to his brilliant cricketing career.

UPSC Success Story ; I have done engineering from JNTU

Before joining the Indian Police Service, Karthik had obtained a degree in Computer Science Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU). Before becoming an IPS, he also worked in a company for 6 months, but then he felt that he should go into civil service. Then what, he started preparing for UPSC with all his heart and soul.

Success in the fourth attempt
He failed in his first three UPSC attempts, but he did not give up and kept trying. The result was that in his fourth attempt in the year 2019, he secured the All India 103rd rank in the UPSC examination, after which he was selected for IPS.

I got 996 marks in UPSC exam
IPS Karthik Madhira had secured 817 marks in the written (mains) examination and 179 marks in the interview, i.e. he had secured a total of 996 marks. He has got Maharashtra cadre. Currently, he is working as ASP in Lonavala. However, his passion for cricket has not diminished, rather he plays cricket whenever he gets a chance.
