Delhi Police stated that many passengers had amassed on platform numbers 12 and 13 of New Delhi Railway Station because the departure was delayed for Shiv Ganga Express, Swatantrata Senani Express, Jammu Rajdhani Express, Lucknow Mail, and Magadh Express.

There was a rush-like condition in the station:

In addition to this, Delhi Police added that because of the delay in trains, a large number of passengers were observed on the platforms. The situation turned out to be chaotic, and a stampede-like situation was formed, which was like the crowd management issues observed during the last Maha Kumbh arrangements. Immediate necessary crowd control measures should be adopted to prevent any untoward incident. No one is said to be injured.
