Samsung is working on a smartphone with a 500MP camera
Samsung is all set to shake the camera industry once more. The South Korean firm had already launched a smartphone with a 200MP camera to the market. Business now seems to create a 500MP camera for a Galaxy smartphone. The said 500MP sensor is available in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, due next year. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, a device the company will release this year, will only have a 200MP camera. And on the international market, it will be able to see the light of day on January 22.
It shares information about a post that speaks of Samsung’s 500 MP camera sensor. This 500 MP camera sensor could be used on Samsung’s Galaxy devices, following the leaked report. In addition to this, the South Korean company is now developing a triple-layer image stacked sensor. This sensor is going to be an improvement from Sony’s Exmor RS image sensor.
This triple-layer stacked sensor, the leaker says, will function just like Apple’s PD-TR logic configuration. Apple is going to launch its iPhone 18 series in 2026 with this high-power camera sensor. Sony’s camera sensor has been used in the Apple iPhone launched this year. The iPhone uses CMOS image sensors like CIS. Samsung’s 3-layer stacked image sensor will be more advanced than this.
The iPhone 18 series will also see some changes. For instance, the Samsung 48 MP camera sensor will be integrated into the 2026 iPhone 18. Furthermore, the flagship Galaxy S series Samsung smartphones can come with a 500 MP camera sensor.
