10 Lakh Rupees Lost Due To 1 Rupee Note; Know The Story of Cyber Fraud
Cyber Fraud – A shocking incident has come to light in Mumbai, where fraudsters duped a cashier of a government insurance company of Rs 10 lakh more by promising him a huge reward in exchange for a one rupee note.
The cashier of a government-owned insurance company was swindled of Rs 10.38 lakh by fraudsters promising a huge reward in exchange for a one-rupee note, an official said on Saturday.
The official
said that a 45-year-old man, a resident of Santacruz West, Mumbai, lodged a complaint at the West Zone Cyber Police Station on Thursday. The man, who works at the Churchgate branch of an insurance company, told the police that on February 23, while watching a reel on social media, he came across an advertisement. The official said that the advertisement promised a reward of Rs 4.53 lakh to anyone who brought a one rupee note. It also had a WhatsApp number.

First deposited Rs 6,160
The cashier sent a photo of a one-rupee note on the WhatsApp number, after which a person named Pankaj Singh contacted him. Pankaj said that he works at a coin shop. The caller asked the person to fill out a form and deposited Rs 6,160 for registration.
The officer said that after some time he called the complainant again and said that the amount mentioned earlier was wrong and he would have to transfer Rs 6,107. The caller also promised that the amount transferred earlier would be refunded. After this, Pankaj Singh connected the complainant to another person, who introduced himself as Arun Sharma.

The accused sent a letter from RBI
Arun sent a letter from RBI to the victim about winning a prize in exchange for a one-rupee note, and both of them engaged the cashier in a conversation. On various pretexts, they collected Rs 10.38 lakh from the complainant.
Officials said that the victim cashier realized that he had been duped when the accused told him that if he paid Rs 6 lakh more, the prize money could go up to Rs 25.56 lakh. After this, the victim approached the police.
The officer said that a case has been registered under the IT Act and the Indian Justice Code and the investigation is underway.
