With this, a total of three cases have been detected in the country. However, due to the increase in HMPV infections in China, there is a fear of the virus spreading in the country; now three cases of this respiratory infection, HMPV, have been reported in the country in a single day. Two have been detected in Bengaluru and one in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
An 8-month-old baby and a 3-month-old baby were first diagnosed with the disease at a Bengaluru hospital and tested positive for HMPV. Now, a 2-month-old baby from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has been diagnosed with the disease.
Human metapneumovirus (HMPV), a respiratory virus that was first identified in 2001, has now spread to China. Three cases have been reported in the country, and it is mainly affecting young children.
On the other hand, both the Gujarat and Karnataka governments have advised not to panic about this. The condition of the children is stable. Along with this, the doctors are also successful in treating it. Out of the 2 cases identified in Bengaluru, one has been discharged from the hospital while the health condition of the other paitent is currently improving.
The biggest thing is that these are young children, and they do not have a travel history. Regarding which the Karnataka government has said, this virus is already there. Usually, respiratory diseases like pneumonia are caused by this virus. On the other hand, the Union Health Ministry has said that two HMPV cases in Bengaluru were detected through routine surveillance for respiratory viral diseases, which was part of the ongoing efforts of the Indian Council of Medical Research to monitor respiratory diseases across the country. People do not need to panic.
