There is a mythological story associated with Akshaya Tritiya. In ancient times, there lived a pious but poor Vaishya who had a strong faith in God. One day he came to know that worshipping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi on the third day of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month and donating to Brahmins leads to attaining Akshaya Punya. Therefore, on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, Dharamdas woke up in the Brahma Muhurta, took a bath in the Ganges, worshipped God according to the rituals and also donated according to his capacity. It is believed that due to these pious deeds, Dharamdas was born as the king of Kushavati in his next birth.
Akshaya Tritiya Pujan Vidhi (Method of Worship on Akshaya Tritiya)
On this day, wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes. Then, take pictures or idols of Lord Laxminarayan and install them and then start the puja. Apply sandalwood tilak to Lord Vishnu and kumkum to Goddes Lakshmi. Offer yellow flowers to Lord Vishnu and lotus flowers to Goddess Lakshmi. Then offer barley, wheat, sattu, cucumber, gram lentils, jaggery etc. Then, you can also narrate the story of Laxminarayan. Finally, do the aarti. On this day, you can feed Brahmins and donate to the poor people. According to religious beliefs, the virtue obtained from the worship, donations, mantra chanting, havan, etc. done on this day is inexhaustible. It is believed that the virtue earned on this day brings continuous happiness and prosperity in a person’s life.
