Alcohol and tobacco advertising banned in IPL 2025 , Health Ministry writes a letter
Alcohol and tobacco advertising is banned in IPL 2025. The 18th edition of IPL is set to begin on March 22. The tournament will be played in a home and away format, for which all the teams have started preparations at their respective levels. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has written a letter to the IPL Chairman regarding the ban on cigarette advertising and sale, as well as tobacco and liquor advertising during the IPL. The main reasons for the increase in these diseases are tobacco and alcohol consumption. India is in second place in terms of the highest number of deaths due to tobacco. Every year, 1.4 million people in India die due to alcohol consumption. The upcoming season of IPL will be played from March 22. The first match will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens. The final match of the tournament, which will last for more than 2 months, will be played on May 25.
