Satish said, ‘I spent 50 million rupees to buy this dog. Because I am passionate about dogs, and I want to breed unique dogs and introduce them to India.’
Born in America, Kadaboms Okami is just eight months old and weighs over five kilograms. He eats 3 kilograms of raw meat every day. Okami is part shepherd, and is primarily a guard breed known for its protective instincts and intelligence that is ‘never to be taken lightly.’
In February, the luxury dog was sold to Satish, president of the Indian Dog Breeders Association. He says he makes money by showing his beautiful dogs to enthusiastic audiences, earning anywhere from $2,800 for 30 minutes to $11,700 for five hours.
He said, ‘I spend money on these dogs because they are rare. Besides, I earn a lot of money because people are always interested in seeing them.’ “People take selfies and photographs. At film screenings, my dog and I get more attention than any actor; we both attract the crowd,” he said.
Satish also has a rare Chow Chow dog, which he bought for around Rs 3.35 million last year. All these dogs are well taken care of. They live on a 7-acre farm, where each one has a 20ft x 20ft cage. ‘They have enough space to walk and run. They have six people to take care of them,’ Satish said. ‘They don’t need air conditioning because the city weather is cold, but they are well taken care of.’
