Beer prices to increase again
Beer prices to increase again, government to announce soon . The state government is planning to increase the price of beer once again. On February 2024, the government had increased the price of beer by 10%. Now it is being revealed that the Karnataka government is thinking of increasing the price again.
In 2023, while presenting the state budget, the Congress government in Karnataka increased the price of beer by 10%. As a result, a 650 ml beer bottle became more expensive by Rs 10 to Rs 15. In 2024, the government increased the price of beer by another 10%. Due to the second price increase, beer became more expensive by Rs 15 per bottle.
Additionally, the Siddaramaiah government had proposed to impose additional excise duty on strong beer bottles on August 2024. If this is approved, then the price of beer will increase for the third time in a year.
Excise Minister RB Thimmapur said, “Talks are on to increase the price. But no final decision has been taken. We are not thinking of increasing the price of milk right now. Only the price of beer can be increased. However, we have not spoken to the Chief Minister in this regard.”
