Chinese HMPV virus enters India: 8-month-old child infected. Its first case has come from Bengaluru. According to reports, an 8-month-old girl has been infected with it. The case was detected at the city’s Baptist Hospital. The state health department said that it has not tested the samples in the laboratory.
The Karnataka Health Department said that so far, no official confirmation yet, that the virus has been found in the environment, and if it is tested most people will be found positive. It is a common virus, and there is no vaccine so far, but its symptoms are similar to that of a cold. In 2023, HMPV was detected in the Netherlands, UK, Finland, Australia, Canada, the US, and China.

What is HMPV, and why is it spreading?
People infected by HMPV, which is similar to the COVID-19 virus, are similar in the symptoms they develop. It develops pneumonia and bronchitis besides the cold, cough, and fever common to all such infections. Breathing is the other issue suffered by the ones affected.It is dangerous for children under the age of six, the elderly, and anyone with a weakened immune system. According to Reuters, patients have been exposed to influenza A, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, rhinovirus, and Covid-19.
