The name of this new virus is Human Metapneumovirus or HMPV. The number of people infected with this new virus is increasing rapidly. However, the effects of the virus have been seen more in young children. Not only HMPV, people are being infected with other viruses. People are also being infected with influenza-E, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and the Covid-19 virus. There are also demands to declare a state of emergency in many parts of China due to the increasing infection.
There has been a global uproar after many social media posts and reports appeared that China is now facing another epidemic-like infection situation. However, China has not made public any information about its preparedness and response to the mysterious virus. While China is said to have an outbreak of human metanephrine virus (HMPV), there is no specific treatment or vaccine available for it, so awareness, precautions, and prevention are important. According to the Cleveland Clinic, it is an upper respiratory tract infection, but it can sometimes cause lower respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, asthma flare-ups, or worsen chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
