Customers will get Two ISI Helmets free on Purchasing a two wheeler ; says Nitin Gadkari . Every year more than 4,80,000 road accidents occur in india and around 1,88,000 deaths occur . Therefore with an aim to stregthen road safety in india , union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that now you will get two isi certified helmets free when you buy a bike .The government has directed bike companies to sell two isi certified helmets to passengers along with their vehicles . Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari made this announcement at an auto conference in Delhi recently.

The Two-Wheeler Manufacturers Association of India (THMA) had been demanding for a long time that the company provide two helmets to passengers along with the motorcycles. This has now received the support of the Union Minister.

Praising the Union Minister’s announcement, THMA Chairman Rajiv Kapoor said, “This is not just a rule; it is a national imperative. Such a directive has given hope to the families who have lost their loved ones in accidents that such losses can be prevented in the future.”

More than 4,80,000 road accidents occur in India every year. More than 1,88,000 people die in these accidents. More than 69,000 people die in two-wheeler accidents every year. 50% of the total deaths in two-wheeler accidents are due to not wearing a helmet.

It is worth noting that the Government of India has made changes to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1998. A fine of Rs 2000 can be deducted for wearing a helmet. According to the original Motor Vehicles Act, if you are not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle or scooter, then as per the new rules, Rs 1000 can be deducted under 194D MVA and if you are wearing a defective helmet (without BIS), then Rs 1000 can be deducted under 194D MVA. In such a situation, even if you wear a helmet, if you do not follow the new rules, then you may have to spend Rs 2000.
