He was receiving treatment for pneumonia. He had been receiving treatment for nearly five weeks. His death was confirmed at 7:35 am. In a message on the social media site X, the Vatican stated that the pope had died in his apartment. Pope Francis’s whole life was devoted to God and the Church. He himself always instructed individuals to live courageously and in love. A new Pope will now be elected after Pope Francis’ death. The cardinals will collectively elect the new Pope.
Pope Francis was born on 17 December 1936 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His birth name was Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He assumed the office of Pope on 13 March 2013, the supreme religious leader of the Roman Catholic Church. The Bishop of Rome and the head of state of the Vatican is referred to as the Pope.
