We should develop a society not just about me but also about us, against injustice and oppression in all aspects. It has also been observed in numerous other directions that they have even excelled men. From agriculture to space exploration to sports and science, women have proved themselves to be capable in every area.
Then they talk about how they can go ahead even further. This day is being celebrated by many nations of the world. International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th every year all across the globe. It is being celebrated as a day of respect, appreciation, and the political and social gains of women all around the globe.
The day was originally observed on February 28, 1909, at the behest of the Socialist Party of America. It was internationalized at the Socialist International’s 1910 Copenhagen Congress. Its primary aim at that point was to enfranchise women to exercise their right to vote because, in many nations at the time, women did not have the voting right.
In 1917, Russian women demonstrated for bread and clothing on Women’s Day. This demonstration was also historic. The Provisional Government granted women the right to vote. At the time, the rest of the world used the Gregorian calendar, but Russia used the Julian calendar. There was a few-day discrepancy between the two calendars. Although the Gregorian calendar shows March 8, the Julian calendar shows February 23 as the last day of February 1917. Even in Russia at the time, the Gregorian calendar was in use worldwide. Women’s Day was thus observed on March 8.
