ICC Ranking list , Tilak Verma in second position . India’s talented batsman Tilak Verma has reached the second position in the batsmen’s list in the International Cricket Council (ICC) men’s T20 rankings released on Wednesday, while spinner Varun Chakraborty has jumped 25 places to enter the top five in the bowlers’ list. Verma is now just behind Travis Head in the batsmen’s list. The Australian batsman has a lead of 23 points over Verma. Left-handed batsman Verma is in great form at the moment and has scored unbeaten 19, unbeaten 72 and 18 runs in India’s current T20 series against England.
ICC Ranking list – With two matches still to be played in the current series between India and England, Verma has a chance to overtake Head and become the youngest player to top the rankings. This record is currently held by Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who reached number one at the age of 23 years and 105 days. Verma’s current rating of 832 points is the fourth-highest rating achieved by an Indian batsman in the history of T20 international cricket.
Only Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have gained more rating points from India in the shortest format of the game. India opener Abhishek Sharma has jumped 59 places to 40th position, while England’s Liam Livingstone (up five places to 32nd) and Ben Duckett (up 28 places to 68th) have also benefited from good performances. Chakraborty, who took five wickets for 24 runs in the third match against England, has joined the top five bowlers in the bowlers’ rankings with his charismatic performance.
His fellow spinner Akshar Patel has moved up five places to 11th position. England spinner Adil Rashid has again reached the top spot in the T20 International bowlers’ rankings on the basis of his good performance against India. Earlier, he reached number one in 2023.
Meanwhile, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who performed brilliantly in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, has retained his top position in the Test bowlers’ rankings. West Indies’ Jomel Warrican has reached 24th position in the list of all-rounders in Test cricket. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan has moved up two places to 15th position in the Test batsmen’s rankings. England’s Joe Root remains at the top in the batting rankings in Test cricket.
