Indian Railway new rules: Only Confirmed Ticket Holders Can Enter the Platform : The recent stampede at the New Delhi railway station has been a much-discussed topic throughout the nation. In this accident, nearly 18 individuals lost their lives. But the Railways is taking serious measures to make sure that such a tragic accident never occurs in the future. With this in mind, Indian Railways has made up its mind to let only confirmed or guaranteed ticket-holding passengers into the platforms of 60 congested stations.

The railways are hoping that this step will prevent overcrowding on platforms. Railway Minister Ashwini Baishnab met officials on Friday and instructed them to take appropriate measures to manage crowding at key stations in the country.

According to the decision made in the meeting, waiting centres will be established outside 60 crowded stations, and access to the platforms will be limited. The Railways has made it clear that now total entry control will be put in place at the aforementioned 60 stations. Only confirmed ticket passengers will be permitted to enter the platforms. Waiting ticket holders and non-ticket holders will have to wait outside in waiting centres. All unauthorized entry points of the stations will also be closed. Bengaluru station has also been added to the list of 60 stations.

The pilot project has begun from the following stations:

This scheme was launched as a pilot project in certain stations first. The stations where the scheme is being initiated are New Delhi, Anand Bihar, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Patna railway stations. As per this scheme, crowd control will be done. Passengers will be permitted to proceed toward the platform only when the train is nearing arrival and not earlier. Because of this, there will be no unwanted crowds on the station premises, and individuals will be able to travel freely.

Foot over bridges will also be expanded:

These bridges were found to be highly effective during the Kumbh Mela. In consideration of the safety of commuters, the Railways have also decided to enhance the number of CCTV cameras. Cameras will be placed in all 60 railway stations and their periphery. ‘War rooms’ will be established at major stations to manage the crowd. The teams deployed will remain in these rooms and monitor everything.
