India’s premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Wednesday announced his retirement from international cricket
Great spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his retirement. He has announced his retirement at the age of 38. Ravichandran Ashwin, who has played 287 international matches, will not be seen in international cricket anymore. However, he will continue to play IPL.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has bought him for Rs 9.75 crore. If he performs well in 2025, the Chennai team can retain him again. They have been doing this with MS Dhoni and they can do the same for their favorite cricketer. Ashwin has also partnered with CSK’s academy, where he has got a big position. He will not be seen playing domestic cricket anymore.
Ashwin’s international career
Off-spinner Ashwin has played a total of 287 matches for India. Out of these, he has taken a total of 537 wickets in 106 test matches. He got a chance to bowl in 200 innings. He has been successful in getting a five-wicket haul 37 times, while 8 times he was successful in taking 10 or more wickets in a ar match. His best bowling is 7 wickets for 59 runs in an innings and 13 wickets for 140 runs in a match. At the same time, he has taken 156 wickets in 116 One Day International matches. Ashwin never got a five-wicket haul in ODI cricket. He could not take a five-wicket haul even once in T20 International cricket. He got 72 wickets in 65 matches.
Ashwin has been successful in Test cricket as a batsman as well. He scored a lot of runs as an all-rounder. He scored 3503 runs in 151 innings of Test cricket, which included 6 centuries and 14 half-centuries. His best score is 124 runs. In One Day International cricket, he got a chance to bat in 63 out of 116 innings and he could score only 707 runs. He scored one half-century in ODI cricket. Ashwin got to bat 19 times in T20 International cricket. He could score only 184 runs. His best score is 31 runs.
