Khel Ratna Award,four players including Manu Bhaker-Gukesh will get Khel Ratna

Khel Ratna Award ,The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the Khel Ratna awards. Apart from Manu Bhaker and D. Gukesh, Praveen Kumar will also be honoured with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award. Harmanpreet Singh, who captained the hockey team to a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, will also receive the Khel Ratna. The award ceremony will begin at 11 am on January 17, 2025, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Based on the recommendations given by the committees, the government has decided to honour Manu Bhaker, D. Gukesh, Harmanpreet Singh, and para athlete Praveen Kumar with the Khel Ratna award.

Let us remind you that a few days ago, a controversy arose when Manu Bhaker’s name was not included in the list of athletes recommended for the Khel Ratna award. Later, Manu herself admitted that there may have been some mistake on her part.

Manu Bhaker created history by winning two medals in shooting at the Paris Olympics. By doing so, she became the first Indian athlete to win two different medals in a single event at the same Olympics. Similarly, Harmanpreet Singh led the Indian hockey team to a bronze medal under her captaincy. This was the second consecutive time that India won a bronze medal at the Olympics. Similarly, D Gukesh became the youngest world champion in the history of chess a few weeks ago. He was just 18 years old when he won the title of world champion.Similarly, the names of 32 players have been announced for the Arjuna Award. President Draupadi Murmu will present the awards to all these sportspersons at a special function at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 17.
