Lockdown is back again in India! after HMPV cases were detected. Another pathogenic virus, that emerged post-COVID-19 is Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) as well, which has caused worry. With the finding of eight patients in five states of India falling sick, people are concerned about how long the lockdown will last. The hashtag lockdown has started trending on social media. 2 children in Bengaluru, 2 in Chennai and a 2-month-old child in Ahmedabad have been infected with HMPV. Similarly, HMPV was isolated in a 6-month-old child from Kolkata and 2suspected patients of HMPV virus have also been detected in Nagpur, Maharashtra. In India, the cases of people infected by HMPV have reached 8. The infected patients have no relation with foreign travel.

This virus is spreading everywhere including India. According to the ministry, respiratory infections have different times of diagnosis in different nations. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that outbreaks of influenza or acute respiratory infection were not uncommon. Hence, at all surveillance levels, the situation is being tracked. According to the ministry, it would also follow up on the countrywide prevalence of HMPV infection during the remainder of this year.
