According to the information given by the Railways through RTI, from 7 July 2021 to 17 June 2024, 131 train accidents have occurred in the country, out of which 92 are train derailment incidents. These accidents include 64 passenger trains and 28 freight trains. In the last three years, 2 passenger trains and 1 freight train have derailed every month.
