Major train accident in Odisha, 11 coaches of Kamakhya Express derailed . A train accident has occurred in Odisha. 11 coaches of Kamakhya Express (12251) going from Bangalore to Guwahati derailed. The incident is said to have happened around 11.54 am. According to information received from the railway, this incident happened near Nergundi station (Khurda division) near Cuttack. There is no news of any casualty or injury in this accident so far. At present, senior railway officials have reached the spot.
Regarding this incident, East Coast Railway CPRO Ashok Kumar Mishra said that we have received information about some coaches of 12551 Kamakhya Superfast Express derailing. We have received information that 11 AC coaches have derailed. One person died in this accident, while many people are injured. Regarding the deaths, the railway official said that there is no clear information about this.
However, no information has been received about the circumstances under which this incident took place, but it will be clear after the investigation. Passengers are suffering in the scorching heat. There is also no information about when the train will run normally. Meanwhile, the CPRO has informed that eleven coaches have derailed. The AC coaches are among them, said the East Coast Railway official.
No casualty has been reported so far, East Coast Railway said. On the other hand, a medical team has been sent there along with NDRF and fire teams. Arrangements are being made to transport the passengers who are stuck there to their destinations.
Restoration work will start soon at the accident site and arrangements will be made to start other train services, said Ashok Kumar Mishra, Chief Public Relations Officer, East Coast Railway. He also said that there are eleven AC coaches. According to initial information, no one was injured, said the CPRO. Arrangements are being made to take the passengers to their destination by road transport or other means.
