Marburg virus spreading: What are the symptoms? Another new virus has started spreading. This virus is so deadly that blood flows from the infected person’s eyes and nose. Nine persons became infected with this virus in the Kagera region of Tanzania, and out of them, eight died. ‘Marburg’ is the name of this newly emerging virus. The World Health Organisation has issued a warning statement already that it may lead to an epidemic.
This virus, like the Ebola virus, is identified to be spread by bats. The experts also agree that this virus cannot be cured. One may just protect himself with caution.
Marburg virus disease (MVD) was first discovered in 1967, after outbreaks in Germany and Serbia. The virus was isolated after laboratory workers handled tissues from African green monkeys imported from Uganda.
Symptoms include:
Bleeding in the eyes, nose, and genital areas
Has a fever
Strong piercing of the head
Coughing
Muscle and joint stiffness
Sore throat
Skin reactions
Pain in the chest and stomach
Vomit
Turning the head
Weight loss
