In reality, Chinese startup NeuroAccess published two important successful experiments. Its flexible brain-computer interface (BCI) device decoded the thoughts of brain injury sufferers in real-time. Similarly, in a test with another person, Chinese speech was decoded in real-time.
According to Xinhua, patients used brain-computer interface technology to control software, grasp objects, operate virtual avatars through voice commands, and converse with AI models.
According to NeuroAccess, the researchers extracted electrocorticogram (ECoG) features from the high-gamma band of the patient’s brain waves and trained a neural network model to decode them in real-time.
It had a system delay of less than 0 milliseconds and accurately detected brain activity locations within minutes following the operation. NeuroAccess, a Chinese business, tested a device capable of reading minds.
