Mobile recharge plan: Activate SIM for 4 months for just Rs. 20;Activate SIM for 4 months for just Rs. 20: Nowadays, most users use two SIM cards. From July 2025, recharging plans have increased so much in cost that, at times, it is pretty tough to recharge two numbers together. Although we use SIMs a lot, we recharge our numbers because, at times, the number automatically gets deactivated from the system. So, all of these fears from now will disappear. Due to the new rule introduced by TRAI.
Many Indians carry two SIM cards in their handsets. One is used for regular calls and data, and the other is kept as a backup in case of an emergency. People like to keep the second SIM operational because it is not used as frequently. In the TRAI user manual, it states that if SIM cards are not in use for 90 days then they are deactivated. This translates to three months. If the SIM is deactivated after 90 days of inactivity with a prepaid balance amount, then an amount of Rs 20 will be deducted to keep the SIM active for another 30 days.
This means that your number can remain active for a total of 120 days. As a result, if you insert a second SIM, then after maintaining the balance of Rs 20 in it, after the recharge, you would be able to keep the SIM card active for 120 days. In case of insufficient balance, the SIM shall go out of service, and it will not be possible to avail the facility of call generation and reception or internet surfing. The SIM numbers that are de-activated will be recycled so that the numbers are again in use in the hands of new users.
Similarly, if a person forgets his second SIM and it is not used for 90 days, then there is no need to worry. There is a grace period of 15 days to reactivate the SIM. During this period, users can contact customer care or visit the company’s store for assistance in reactivating their SIM immediately.
This rule has been implemented for all company networks i.e. Jio, Airtel, BSNL, VI users.
