Modi’s cabinet approved ropeway from Sonprayag to Kedarnath . Narendra Modi’s cabinet has approved important ropeway projects for Uttarakhand. Under the Parvatmala project, ropeways will be built from Sonprayag to Kedarnath (12.9 km) and from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib (12.4 km). The Narendra Modi cabinet on Wednesday gave a big gift to Uttarakhand. The cabinet has approved a 12.9 km long ropeway project from Sonprayag to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand under the National Ropeway Development Program- Parvatmala Project. Its total cost will be Rs 4,081.28 crore. Regarding this, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that its biggest advantage will be that the journey which currently takes 8-9 hours will be reduced to 36 minutes.

The Union Cabinet has also approved the development of a 12.4 km long ropeway project from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand under the Parvatmala project. The amendment of the livestock health and disease control program has also been approved by including the animal medicine component. There is a plan to help in the prevention and control of livestock diseases through vaccination, monitoring and upgradation of health facilities.

When will the Kedarnath Ropeway do?
In the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Modi, it has been decided that the ropeway will be developed in public-private partnership. It will be developed on Tri-Cable Detachable Gondola (3S) technology. After its construction, 18 thousand passengers will be able to travel daily.

The ropeway project will be a boon for pilgrims visiting Kedarnath. This project will be environmentally friendly as well as provide comfortable and fast connectivity. This will save a lot of time.

Regarding the 12.9 km long ropeway project from Sonprayag to Kedarnath, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that its total cost would be Rs 4,081.28 crore. Its biggest advantage will be that the journey which is currently completed in 8-9 hours, will be reduced to 36 minutes. It will have a seating capacity of 36 people. Along with this, the cabinet has approved the amendment of the Livestock Health and Disease Control Program (LHDCP). Animal medicine has been added to the LHDCP scheme. Under this scheme, Rs 3,880 crore will be spent in 2024-25 and 2025-26.

Ropeway from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib
Regarding the 12.4 km long ropeway project from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that it will be prepared on DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) mode. Its total cost will be Rs 2,730.13 crore. This will provide convenience to the pilgrims coming to Hemkund Sahib and the tourists coming to the Valley of Flowers. This scheme will provide all-weather connectivity between Govindghat and Hemkund Sahib.
