26/11 Terror Attack Most Wanted Tahawwur Rana Reaches India

Most Wanted Tahawwur Rana Reaches India-Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana has been brought to India. The special vehicle carrying him has landed at the Delhi airport. Soon, he will be taken from the airport to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) headquarters, where a team of investigating agencies will question him. After this, he will be lodged in the capital’s Tihar Jail, where special arrangements have been made for his security.

The US extradited Tahaur Hussain Rana, one of the masterminds of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, to India after all legal options were exhausted. Rana was brought to India from the US on a special flight on Wednesday.

The US Supreme Court on Monday refused to grant a stay on Rana’s extradition, following a previous petition he filed on health grounds, which was rejected in March. In the petition, he expressed concern that he would be at risk of death in India due to nationalist, religious and cultural hatred.

However, his path to return was completely blocked after the US Supreme Court rejected his appeal against his extradition to India. Earlier in February, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington, US President Donald Trump had promised to extradite Rana to India.
