Myanmar earthquake , death toll soars past 1,000 as Thailand scrambles . Myanmar and Thailand were hit by powerful earthquakes on Friday, causing widespread damage. Two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.2 on the Richter scale brought down several tall buildings in Myanmar. More than 1,002 people have been killed in Myanmar and more than 2,000 injured. The death toll is expected to rise. The Myanmar earthquake also caused extensive damage in neighboring Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, which is 900 km away.

Keeping this in mind, the Indian government has now sent 15 tonnes of relief material. The 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand on Friday has caused extensive damage. It is feared that there will be much more. Many people are trapped under the rubble. Rescue operations are underway on a war footing. Rescuers are searching for life under the rubble.
Many bridges have been destroyed. Roads have been cracked. Many large dams have been damaged. A national disaster has been declared in Myanmar after the earthquake. Some places have become death zones. Naypyidaw and Mandalay have been the worst affected by the earthquake. Naypyidaw is the second largest city in Myanmar.

The earthquake in Thailand was so strong that water started cascading down a tall building like a waterfall from a rooftop swimming pool in Bangkok. A 30-story skyscraper under construction in the city collapsed, trapping more than 70 workers. The full extent of the damage and casualties is not yet clear. The 7.7-magnitude earthquake has left everything in ruins.
