NASA Confirms Stuck Astronauts’ Return Date, Shares Splashdown Time
NASA Reveals The Date Of Sunita Williams’ Return To Earth: Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams, who have been stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) for 9 months, are finally going to return to Earth. NASA has confirmed the date of their return to Earth. They said on Sunday that both astronauts would return to Earth on the evening of Tuesday, March 18. It is believed that both will land in the water area near the coast of Florida, USA.
Why are the astronauts stuck?
Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams left for space on June 5 in Boeing’s new Starliner capsule. Both were supposed to stay there for a week. However, due to a malfunction in the plane, both have been stuck there for about 9 months. On Sunday, SpaceX’s spacecraft reached the International Space Station. With this, the way for the return of Williams and Wilmore has been cleared.
NASA Confirms Return Time And Date:
NASA has confirmed that the astronauts will land in the ocean off the coast of Florida at approximately 5:57 pm EST on March 18 (3:27 pm IST, March 19). They will also be releasing live coverage of the return of the SpaceX Crew-9 mission. It will begin on Monday, March 17, at 10:45 pm Eastern Time (March 18 at 8:30 am IST).
Trump blames Biden For astronauts Stuck :
US President Donald Trump had accused the previous Biden administration of abandoning the astronauts. Elon Musk had said, “The astronauts went there for only eight days, but they have been there for eight months. SpaceX could have brought them back by sending another spacecraft six months ago, but the Biden White House refused to allow it. President Trump asked to bring them back as soon as possible, and we are doing so.”
